Have you ever been awe-struck by a beautiful space in a hotel, a restaurant or a friend’s home? Social media photos are carefully curated to provide your news feed with the same jaw-dropping wow-factor.

Instagram and Pinterest-worthy pictures are easy to achieve with the right strategy. If you’re in search of a well-designed, beautiful room I have just the tips for you.

Create a Focal Point

Accent walls provide a natural focal point for your space, but not every wall should be a focal point. Awesome wallpaper, a bright pop of color or a fireplace with built-in shelving or fretwork are great accents and easy ways to get the wow factor. In the picture below, the floor-to-ceiling fireplace serves as the focal point and centers the furniture in the room.

Use The Rule of Three

Use the time-honored Rule of Three when working with fabrics, textures, patterns, and colors. Select the color you want to highlight and repeat it at least three times throughout the room. For instance, if your color is navy, use a navy area rug, navy-patterned pillows, and window treatments or artwork featuring navy blue.

As seen below, the same color is repeated throughout in various patterns. Blue is found in the rug, the ottoman, the window treatments, pillows and even in the accessories. These consistent pops of blue pull the room together.

Not Your Average Flooring

Ceramic and porcelain floor tile come in a variety of patterns and colors, and can be customized to fit your needs. Wood flooring and stone tile get an update by laying in patterns such as herringbone and basketweave.

In the photo below, the star of the room is the patterned concrete floor tile.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to get the wow factor. Repeating the color throughout the space will make the room look pulled together. If you need extra help pulling your room together, I would love to help you achieve the wow factor in your space.

Happy Styling!
